1. Why you were
looking forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may be):
Its the 3rd time I've been
to Broadhall Way and despite our record against them not being the best I
enjoy visiting due to the fact that the place is full of nice friendly
people who are very nice and welcome your custom into the town wherever it
may be. The ground is a two minute walk from a local Retail Park which
includes Burger King, Pizza Hut plus several other shops.
2. How easy was your journey/finding the ground/car parking?
I didn't tend to go the
shortest route which was through Luton Town Centre, I intended to go on
the A14 and take the Junction for the A1 and followed the signs from
there. Once in Stevenage it was fairly easy to find the ground, as soon as
you leave the A1(M) it is signposted clearly and from the A1(M) its a 5
minute drive.
3. What you did before the game pub/chippy.... home fans friendly?
Before the game myself and
some other lads that we went with popped over to the Retail Park and went
into Pizza Hut, decent food at a fairly reasonable price. Once that was
all done we went into the Stevenage Borough Clubhouse which is of fair
size and has a large screen plus several smaller screens for when there is
an early game on. Beer was reasonable not to cheap but not over priced.
Fans seemed friendly and were more than happy to speak to ourselves & got
on very well with the few that we spoke to.
4. What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then other sides of the ground?
It was the 3rd time I've
been to the ground & I've always liked the ground. Away fans are situated
in the Buildbase Stand which is an all seated stand which I believe holds
around 1,400-1,600 away fans but with only about 150 Tamworth fans there
it seemed a bit much for the likes of ourselves to be based. There is a
long seated stand on one side of the ground and a good sized terrace on
the opposite with a smaller terrace behind the other goal for home
supporters.
Tickets were expensive for
the standard of football with adults being £14 and Concessions being £11.
5. Comment on the game itself, atmosphere, stewards, pies, toilets etc..
The
game itself was a fairly good one although we was on the wrong end of a
3-0 score line. The atmosphere in the ground was boosted by a Kids for
Free day for home supporters which boosted the crowd slightly compared to
other years, and there was more singing this time around compared to other
visits. The stewards seemed a bit over the top there was 1 individual in
particular who would do anything to get on our nerves and was being
generally fussy, the food was over-priced and not the best and the toilets
were of good standard compared to other clubs in the division.
6. Comment on getting away from the ground after the game
It was easy getting from the
ground, there was no trouble from the home fans and within 5 minutes we
had left the massive car park which is based off a nature reserve.
7. Summary of overall thoughts of the day out
Overall thoughts of the day
were mixed the game itself spoiled what was a good day. I would definitely
consider going to Stevenage again and again if I could and maybe next time
I could spend more time in the local boozers that are in the town centre
which is 15 minutes walk up the road.
