When I was planning to go to Rushden and Diamonds Nene park I was looking
forward to it as from the Guide it seemed a nice modern stadium and not to far
from Wycombe. The ground was not the easiest to find as it is not on the
signposted road to Rushden, but once you get nearer the stadium it is easier
to find. The car parking is fantastic there with lots of spaces and very
organised as well.
Before the game we found it difficult to find a pub or anywhere to drink
apart from the clubs own pub which didn't seem to be letting away fans in. As
we did walk around the ground the fans seemed friendly enough most of them
seemed very young but in the home terrace there were proper supporters.
The first impression of the ground when we walked in was that the other
stands seemed rather small but the away stand that we were allocated half of
was bigger and seemed the best stand. It did look nice though because it was
joined all the way around and nice and enclosed (didn't stop the swirling
spring winds though!).
I had to admit there was little noise being produced from the home terrace
but once they took the lead they started singing only to the reply of "you
only sing when your winning"! The stewards were quite strict about sitting
down but every time they walked away an encore of "stand up if u love Wycombe"
soon sorted that. The food was as good as usual, balti pie was good as
everywhere! Toilets were nice as the stadium is modern, no complaints.
It was rather a pain getting out of the Nene park complex but you get it at
most Grounds these days.
Overall it was a good day out (winning in the last minute helped this) and
I would recommend it to travelling fans as a nice modern ground.
